Last week, I was on my holiday for a week due to Chinese New Year celebration. I back to my hometown in Selama, Kedah to spend my holiday. There is nothing special happen during my holiday time except when I went to an Expo at Kamunting, Perak with my parent. A lot of booths and exhibitions at the expo such as agriculture exhibition, stage shows, accessories sale, jumbo sale and also various types of traditional treatment for sinus, high blood pressure and gout.
My father was very interesting to a booth that provides a traditional treatment on a gout disease treatment that used leech the small blood-sucking worm. The methods use the leeches to suck the dirty blood and uric acid from the body parts that are painful from gout disease. My father really wants to try the treatment because he is always feeling pain on his leg although he takes a various types of medicine to cure his disease. The attractive method make my father tuned his mind to try the traditional way on his disease. The price for the treatment was RM10.00 per leech and my father used four which 2 leeches for each leg. At the early treatment process, it was a bit difficult to place the leeches on my father’s leg because the leeches were refusing to suck in the parts. This situation was told by the workers was due to the medicine that my father take before the treatment make the leeches refuse from sucking the leg because our blood will become a bit bitter after taking a medicine.
However, after about ten minutes later, the leeches found the mark point to suck in the blood on my father’s leg. The treatment process took about two hours to complete. The leeches will stop if they are full. What was make me shocked when the physical of the leeches immediately changed after the sucking process. The leeches’ size before the treatment was about 2cm long with diameter only 2 to 4mm but when the treatment was finished, its changed to 4 and 5cm with 1 to 1.5mm in diameter. For those who don’t like the creatures will feel some disgusting feeling when see the size of leeches. After the treatment, my father still have no changes to his disease but after two days later the pain was lessen than before. Now, my father can work properly and the gout disease pain was decrease and walking without using crosier. I’m very thankful to God because my father’s gout diseases become much better after the traditional treatment and give the positive effect to his healthy.
